Arrival of Olmsted and Elliott, two male Masai giraffes

Good news!

Another milestone has been reached for our new giraffes, OLMSTED (4 years old) and ELLIOTT (2 years old)!

The two young males, who arrived on June 23, have now completed their quarantine period, which means introductions with females Kumi and Ushindi have begun!

For now, they are being given time to observe, smell and gradually get closer to one another while remaining separated by a barrier. The two males are therefore not yet visible in the African savanna.

The introductions between the two females and the two newcomers are being carried out gradually, according to a predetermined plan and under the supervision of our animal care technicians. Based on the behaviours they observe, the team will determine when the final stage of the introduction process can take place.
